The Principles of Painting

Understanding the Paint, Brush Strokes and Composition

This workshop is to learn the basic principles of how to create a painting through the understanding of colour using a limited palette. It will also cover the application of paint and learning how to use the brush to its maximum capabilities. When to use a large flat brush or a round brush to get the best results and will also teach you the basic elements of good composition so you will be able to produce a painting in harmonious colours and with lots of eye appeal.

It would be an advantage for those attending this workshop to have attended a Language of Colour Workshop or have an idea of correct colour mixing.

The demonstrations during the workshop will be done in acrylics but gouache or water-soluble oils are also suitable to work with.
