The Art of Capturing Memories (2 day sketchbook course)
Make your own bi-fold sketchbook in the morning of the first day then join me in discovering the beauty of the Grampians. The palettes’ of all great painters begin with a selection of just a few tubes of paint that can be mixed to create the harmony and unity of the composition. It’s knowing and understanding what colours to start the journey with that sows the seed for success.
This is a very popular course and goes through understanding the language of colour most importantly, it will show how and why they can be created and then adapted to any range of palette used – all painters in all media need to understand how colour works and, critically, how they can create their own palette. There will be a number of visual exercises and compositions completed addressing how to see and respond to colour
Although I teach this subject using either acrylic and/or gouache during the course, artists using any medium including watercolour, pastel and oil or coloured inks will benefit. This workshop is designed for all painters from beginners to advanced, from 16 years of age upwards.
Pastel painting has continued to develop and become an exciting medium;there are some new and wonderful ways of using pastel and various techniques to enhance your pastel paintings.

The basic principles of portrait anatomy, physical form and structure will be part of the format of the class or workshop, including the basic foundations of tone and colour palette.

Students will discover how to simplify and visualise a variety of subjects. They will look at the fundamentals of line, tone and shape. Charcoal, pencil, conté, pen and ink will be used to create intricate, sensitive and innovative drawings.
An advanced course in drawing for those looking to explore their drawing skills and to understand the language of drawing by pushing the fundamentals of drawing principles. This workshop is an ideal course for those who love drawing and for VCE and university art students.
Students will study advanced skills in drawing by exploring the principles of space, form, tone and structure thus helping them to create powerful images and understand the completion of a composition.
Working from observation, students will be given some unique challenges to broaden their visual and verbal language within art related to drawing. In each class individual tuition will be given and the student’s personal creative needs met to help to create and present their work.
